Service 1

Full scope Nursing Scientist (NS) support to develop a system and/or hospital specific integrated Research & EBP Program

  • Research Infrastructure Program development (structure, process and outcomes).
  • Develops Procedures & Policies, NR strategic plan, staff education r/t research and EBP.
  • Develop Nursing Research Council (NRC) and/or Serve as key consultant to NRC to facilitate research study protocol development with site PI /study nurses. Includes, infrastructure oversight to conduct research study at designated healthcare site.
  • Support a designated site expert during the  IRB process for (one) NR Study approval process.
  • Fosters the capacity to interpret, apply and conduct research that improves patient care quality, cost and outcomes.
  • Bi-Monthly phone calls for program development and consultation regarding research/EBP projects to improve nursing practice, patient care and organizational performance.

Service 2

NS Consultant provides full Institutional Review Board (IRB) and Regulatory/Compliance program support for Nursing Services.

  • Nursing scientist to provide full IRB support working with key staff to develop the infrastructure for nursing to review /navigate all NR specific projects through the IRB (hospital specific/or outside IRB e.g. Western Institutional Review Board) for regulatory approval.
  • Evaluation of nursing research (NR) protocols to determine if Non-Human Subjects study.
  • Evaluation of NR protocol as expedited studies.
  • Evaluation/preparation for full IRB Review (clinical).
  • Research study budget development and tracking.
  • Protocol amendments/modifications, requiring resubmission to IRB.
  • Protocol deviations and Adverse Events (AEs).
  • Facilitates human subjects training and regulatory compliance through the course of each research project.
  • Preparation/coordination of IRB annual report (study continuation) for all Expedited Studies/Full IRB approved studies.

Service 3

Full NS site support for implementation of the NCP ‘Peer Review’ or ‘Shared Governance’  IRB ready research protocol

  • NS consultant provides support for clinical sites who purchase / adopt (Peer Review/ Shared Governance), protocols which includes the use of valid/reliable instruments;
  • NS support with protocol modification to facilitate the site IRB process;
  • NS support for oversight of survey administration/ data collection.
  • Statistical Analysis (pre/post data).

Service 4

Full NS support to develop the framework for a systems / hospital specific integrated, Evidence-Based Practice program

  • EBP Program Development:  includes EBP Model selection (if none available) to be integrated into the healthcare organization as the basis of interprofessional patient care.
  • EBP Nursing  Fellowship Program Development and integrated curriculum (live/web-based). On-site consultation.
  • 3-5-day EBP emersion program, staff education.
  • Hands-on-EBP project design and management with EBP Nurse Fellows and hospital mentors.

NS Consultant – Project Specific (Hourly rate)

NS can assist with the following:

  •  Consultant to NR Council to facilitate research study protocol development with site PI/study nurses. Includes navigating the IRB approval process.
  • Clinical Scholarship Program Development: This service facilitates staff mentoring to develop  advanced writing skills, in order to generate scholarly abstracts for (poster/podium) presentations; and publications in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Provides Research Coursework/Education Novice to expert curriculum to prepare nurses to conduct clinical and basic research.
  • Grant Writing service to gain research infrastructure funding for program.
  • Data Science – Facilitate knowledge discovery in biomedicine by applying data analytics to large data sets to inform decision making in healthcare.
  • Develop NR Data Repository for data collection, storage, analysis.
  • NS Consultation for research study results review/and data analysis
